Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Upgrades to items allow players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
