Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The Best item upgrade way to improve your gear in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This lets you enhance your gear without having to depend on costly drops or trades. This article will show you how to upgrade your gear effectively.

Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus is based on the upgrade component level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons better. You can acquire them by destroying enemies, finding them in item spheres or buying them from karma merchants. You can also salvage them from equipment that has the components or by using high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed when you remove them from an item.

The main function of upgrade components is to enable an item to be upgraded, but they also serve other functions. They can be stacked to increase the level of an upgradeable item or they can be used to boost the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be forged for additional bonuses. A crafted glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target, while an upgrade boosts the defense or attack capabilities of weapons.

You can connect an upgrade template to an item upgrader by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will display a list of upgrade components that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either instance the item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components are gathered.

Each component has a unique experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item gains when upgraded using the component. Organic components, for instance have an increased multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is therefore recommended to upgrade using organic components until you have reached the experience multiplier for the next level of the equipment or weapon, and then move to mechanical upgrades.
